Llama Meadows Farm is a sixteen acre organic (not certified) fruit and vegetable farm located in Beautiful Benzie Country, in Northwestern Lower Michigan. We are one mile south of Crystal Lake and six miles east of Lake Michigan. Our-house is super insulated and passive solar.
We raised llamas for 24 years. They lived out their days here on the farm. Our last llama to die of old age was Big Mama (Claudia), she lived to be 24 years old (thats old for a llama).
We have a fruit orchard with apples, pears, paw paws, kiwi and grapes. When we planted the orchard with apples, cherries, peaches, apricot, plums, nectarines, pears, figs and paw paws. Our soil is heavy clay so after 10 years of growth all the fruit with stone seeds, died of root rot. We also had, blueberries and raspberries, whitch couldn’t take the clay.
On the farm you will find filbert, walnut and pecan trees we planted . Enjoy the beautiful labyrinth peace garden, with over 1200 perennials in and around it. Our most recent project is our Llovely Meadows Campground.
